What is a phlebotomist?

A.

According to the Merriam Webster Dictionary, phlebotomy is: " the drawing of blood (as by venipuncture) for transfusion, apheresis, diagnostic testing, or experimental procedures".  A Phlebotomist is a trained professional who specializes in drawing blood.

How long does it take?

A.

From the time we arrive to when we leave, usually takes about 15 minutes.

How should I prepare?

Please have your Health Card and Requisition ready.  We don't mind if you're in your pajamas or what state your home is in.  Our priority is your comfort.

Q.

Should I Fast?

A.

If you are unsure whether or not to fast, please contact your Doctor, or us, prior to your appointment.  Please remember, if you have been told to fast, you are still able to drink water - this helps with blood collection

I need a urine sample, what do I do?

Let us know and we will bring a specimen container to your appointment.  If you have a container, please ensure it is a recent container and was provided by a health care professional.  Urine samples should be taken 15mins prior to our arrival (or during our appointment), and should NOT be refrigerated.
